Nova is pleased to have recently wrapped up one of the most successful outdoor beach seasons in recent memory. With the success of the Ontario Beach Sports & Music Festival, EVP qualifiers, EVP tour stop, US Open of beach volleyball qualifier, Ten Ugly Men, and this summers’ fantastic weather; it is definitely one to remember.

With the second summer offering a Jr’s division and having that division triple in size, we are happy that the Jr program has caught on and plan on taking it to the next level indoors at Hot Shots Volleyball Center.

Our Feature sponsors Corona Extra, Spalding Volleyballs, and Vitamin Water were pleased with the success of the series and have agreed to support the indoor beach season at Hot Shots throughout the fall.

Having paid over $18,000 in cash and prizes, this summers series has provided the largest payout for local players since it’s beginning in 1987.

With the increased support from sponsors and players, Nova is looking to expand its involvement in ‘08 by supporting events in Buffalo and Syracuse. In an effort to provide professionally run and competitive events throughout the region, Nova has decided to expand the divisions and offer AA/A – BB/B levels for both Men and Women’s indoors this fall and winter as well as for the summer series of ‘08. These divisions will feature great prize money in the upper levels as well as excellent product and incentive awards at both the BB/B levels.

An expanded rating system has been established for all those who have played in events in the last 18 months. Ratings have been set by a committee to establish a base from which to work with... Achieving the next higher rating will be a goal for local players.  These ratings will be put into a national data base so a comparison to other regions will be available. (Check the Novaeventmanagement.com website to see your rating on Oct 12th) We have enclosed a copy of the rating structure for your reference. This rating system is a version of the CBVA (California Beach Volleyball Association) system that has been in place for many years and proven successful.

Feel free to review your ratings and the system. Forward any questions to us via the website. This system will be in place for the fall and winter sessions, and extend into the summer of 08.

After a trip to the US Open of Beach Volleyball in Huntington Beach and participating in a summit meeting with some of the biggest names in the game, I am enthused with the direction of the sport. Several items discussed in the meeting were; increased support for local regions from sponsors, travel to US Open for qualified athletes, bigger purses at the higher levels of play, as well as increased product and incentive packages for the AA/A/BB/B levels and allowing them to travel to competitions.

This meeting was an excellent start with everyone on the same page when it adjourned. A year end meeting in Chicago is planned for December with a more extensive plan for ‘08 on the agenda. Nova’s involvement with regions from around the country will help to cement our dedication to the sport.

We want you to look forward to all the upcoming events at all levels.
